Cancellation of The Season
Submitted By Wendy Johnstone on Friday, June 5, 2020
It is with great disappointment that we announce the cancellation of the 2020 Season of Minor Ball.

Unfortunately, as we collectively deal with the impacts of COVID-19 we have come to the conclusion that we cannot effectively run a program for our House League teams this year. Over the course of the past week, most of the leagues that our teams play in have cancelled their seasons completely.  We expect the other leagues to follow suit within the next few days. At this time, the County of Brant has cancelled all diamond times through the end of this month with little hope that they will reopen for games and practices in July.

This is extremely disappointing to us all. We recognize the value of Minor Sports to youth development and family fun each year. That being said, the concern for individual and public safety in these unusual times takes precedence. While we know our Spartan players and families will miss their teams this year, we believe the right decision has been made.

Full refunds will be made to all participants who had registered. These refunds will be made by Interac eTransfer to the email address you provided when you registered your child. I can assure you that our treasurer Natalie McDonald will make every effort to process these refunds quickly - but it will take some time. I would ask that you allow up to 3 weeks for her to work through this. Our bank platform allows us only to process a limited number of Interac eTransfers at a time, so it would be extremely helpful for us if you could deposit the transfer as soon as you receive it. If you would like to leave your fees with us as a contribution to our program please let me know. We always welcome the financial support of our community.

For those families who have a player on one of our Rep teams, there is still a slight possibility of some late summer tournaments or exhibition games. We will therefore leave your children registered at this time pending news on those events. Should you wish to withdraw their registration and have their fees refunded, please message Wendy at 905-746-8600 or [email protected]

As an Executive, we will take some time over the upcoming months to put together plans for the 2021 Season. We'll miss seeing you all on the Diamonds, but wish you a safe and fun summer.
