What Does My Kid Need to Play Ball?
Submitted By Wendy Johnstone on Friday, April 21, 2017
Games at all levels will start within the next few weeks, and many parents are asking, what does my child need to play ball.

The main thing your child needs to play ball are a glove, and a helmet. Note that the helmet must have a chin strap and a cage to protect the face. Particularly at the early levels, you do not need to invest a lot in this equipment, and there are many great deals to be had right now. Brant Sports has a huge sale going on this weekend on ball equipment. Cleats are optional. We would not recommend purchasing them at the t-ball level - running shoes are more than sufficient. Many players prefer to start wearing cleats at the Grasshopper level, and they are recommended for Atom and up.

St. George Minor Ball supplies each team with an equipment bag that includes proper bats. Some players like to supply their own bat. If you chose to do this, make sure it is the appropriate size and weight for the player. The sales representative at the sporting goods store you go to will be able to assist with this. Should you chose to supply your own bat, it needs to be ASA Certified in order to be used in games.
